Ada “Bricktop” Smith Legends & Lore Marker Dedication

A dedication ceremony for a new Legends & Lore marker commemorating jazz era singer Ada “Bricktop” Smith will be held in Alderson, W.Va., where she was born in 1894. The unveiling will begin at noon on Saturday, Feb. 15 in the community’s Alumni Park. Bricktop was a headliner during the Harlem Renaissance and owned clubs in New York City and Europe. Alderson now holds an annual concert of music from Smith’s era.
