Augusta Chissell & Margaret Gregory Hawkins Women’s Suffrage Marker Dedication

The Maryland Women’s Heritage Center will host a dedication ceremony for a new suffrage marker on the National Votes for Women Trail commemorating Augusta Chissell and Margaret Gregory Hawkins. Chissell and Hawkins, who were suffrage leaders, held African American women’s suffrage meetings at their homes in Baltimore.

The commemoration program with light refreshments will take place at the Union Baptist Church, located at 1219 Druid Hill Ave. The unveiling ceremony will follow at their former homes at 1532 and 1534 Druid Hill Ave. RSVP by November 20: jtech42@comcast.net
