Grace Agnes Reavy was born on Cohoes, NY in 1877. Her father ran a funeral home. She studied music at the New England Conservatory in Boston 1894-1895. She was active in the women’s suffrage movement and served as 3rd Assembly District leader for the Women’s Suffrage Association from 1915-1917. She was active with many service organizations such as the American Red Cross, the Tuberculosis Association and the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. She founded the Women’s Municipal League in Cohoes which built the city’s first public playgrounds. Reavy also helped found the Albany Symphany Orchestra and was president of the Siena College Opera Forum. After, her father’s death, she and her brother ran the Reavy Funeral Home from the Ontario Street house.
