Honey Joe Road is said to be named after Joseph Micklavzina, who was a local farmer, bee keeper and bootlegger. This bit of folklore says that “Honey Joe” hid his wine inside beehives. One hot, August afternoon, federal agents were said to have searched the property but came up empty handed because one of Joe’s clients had tipped him off early.
