The intersection of Marbletown Road and Miller Street has been the site of a school building since at least 1853. During that time, there were actually two buildings, with the other located across Marbletown Road. By 1858, the latter building was no longer in use as a school, but the former housed the Arcadia District Five School until it was replaced by a brick structure in 1876.
This structure, the Centennial Schoolhouse, was built by S.N. Keener and in addition to housing the school, served as a neighborhood meetinghouse, where groups such as the 4-H Club gathered.
In 1947, the school closed, sending its students to schools operated by the Newark School District. The building was later purchased by the local Home Demonstration Unit in 1958 and was the home of the Marbletown Neighborhood Center until it was sold to the Newark-Arcadia Historical Society in 1993. The society still owns the building as of 2026.
