In the village of Sugar Loaf in Orange County, New York, a story is told of a Mountain Witch that once lived at the foot of Sugar Loaf Mountain. The tale recounts the life of Elizabeth Dobbin, a widow who lived alone in the woods in the late 1700s. She is said to have been accused by villagers of witchcraft due to her disheveled appearance and unusual lifestyle.
