GYPSUM & LIMESTONE WERE

WILLIAM G. POMEROY FOUNDATION

According to early historical accounts, gypsum was in great demand, especially during the years of the Civil War. The mineral was mined from nearby Nose Hill. Mills at this site also burned lime, obtaining stone from the same location.
