This schoolhouse is one of a number in the Town of Johnsburg, but the only one not demolished or reused for another purpose as of 2024. It served generations of local children, including some from the Meade family who lived 1.5 mile away on Crane Mountain Road, several of whom remember attending the school. As of 2025, the Garnet Lake Volunteer Fire Department planned to restore the school to original condition and furnish is with age-appropriate furniture.
