This story tells of Charles A. Codman’s encounter with a Native American spirit in 1877. The sighting took place near what is now Ross Memorial Park. It’s said that Codman was closing a window when he saw a red owl, which called out to him and told him it was spirit of a Native American chief. The spirit asked Codman to find his remains and give him a proper burial.
