SUNDAY JALOPY RACES HELD
ON QUARTER MILE DIRT TRACK.
BUILT BY MCNITT BROTHERS ON
THEIR GRANDMOTHER'S FARM.
WILLIAM G. POMEROY FOUNDATION 2016

This jalopy racetrack was the epitome of 1950s small town America. Started by Donald McNitt and Howard McNitt, Jr., local drivers provided hours of entertainment on Sunday afternoons. The track did very well its first three seasons, with the number of spectators ranging from 75 to as many as 800 for each race. Due to a number of reasons, the track fell on financial hardship. Its last race was held on July 31, 1960.
