The Kirkwood Historical Society in the town of Kirkwood in Broome County, New York, is located in the former School No. 2, a two-room schoolhouse built by 1855. Classes were held in the building until a 1962 fire. According to the April 21, 1962 edition of the Binghamton Press, the fire was believed to have been caused by defective wiring, but fortunately no one was injured in the blaze.

In 1994, the former schoolhouse was gifted to the Kirkwood Historical Society by the Diffendorf family. The building was then restored for use as a museum and community center, in addition to serving as home to the historical society. The building continues to be celebrated and enjoyed by its community.
