In the town of Guilderland in Albany County, New York, there is an area referred to as Settles Hill. The name is said to be after brothers Hendrick and Johannes Sittle or Settle. The brothers lived and farmed on the hilltop in the late 1700s. This traditional story gave rise to the use of the Settles Hill name in the community.
