In 1914 the Cayuga Tuberculous Preventorium was established at Etsy Point on the shores of Cayuga Lake. Its mission was to provide a safe summer camp environment for children whose families suffered from TB. In 1939 a new building was constructed at this location and the camp moved here. The former camp was transferred for $1 to a Fish and Game Club. The Preventorium instituted there program here in 1939, but it closed during the Second World War and in 1975 became a Nature Center.
