This story tells of a hermit known as the Leatherman (ca. 1839-1889). This mysterious figure has been said to have worn a 60 lb. handmade leather suit and would travel a 360 mile circuit between the Connecticut and Hudson rivers. It has been believed that he was a native of France. There are known photographs of The Leatherman and his gravesite is in Ossining, NY.
