Elizabeth Preston Anderson was a resident of the community of Valley City, North Dakota. She held two causes close to her heart: temperance and women’s suffrage. Anderson served as the president of the North Dakota Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, which fought against the consumption of alcohol. Additionally, she also worked tirelessly for the North Dakota Votes for Women League. Fortified through efforts by individuals such as Elizabeth Preston Anderson and others at the local level, women succeeded in gaining the right to vote.
