WEST SHORE ROUTE
NY, WEST SHORE & BUFFALO RR
RAN NEAR HERE 1883. FREIGHT
AND PASSENGER SERVICE FROM
WEEHAWKEN, NJ TO BUFFALO, NY.
LATER PART OF CSX SYSTEM.
WILLIAM G. POMEROY FOUNDATION 2025

Completed in 1883, the New York, West Shore & Buffalo Railroad offered freight and passenger service over 425 miles, from Weehawken, NJ, located opposite New York City, to Buffalo, NY. At Weehawken, it allowed for connection to New York City by means of ferries across the Hudson River. The line ran north along the west shore of the Hudson to Albany, then west to Buffalo, passing Utica, Syracuse, and Rochester.

On its way north, the tracks of the New York, West Shore & Buffalo ran through the town of Guilderland, with a station located in the hamlet of Fullers. The station building in Fullers was removed in the late 1920s. By 1999, the former West Shore route had become part of the CSX transportation system.
