Ella Salome Wilcoxen was the first woman to graduate from the University of Rochester, receiving her degree in 1901. After graduation, Wilcoxen continued her studies, attending Illinois Wesleyan University from 1903 to 1905. She taught for a number of years. Wilcoxen lived in this home from about 3 years of age until her death in 1933.
