Dr. Sylvester Willard began serving as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Auburn Seminary in 1846. He served on the Board for more than 40 years. When Auburn Seminary built this chapel they dedicated to him for his long service. The interior and windows were designed by Jacob Holzer of Tiffany Glass company. It was erected between 1892-1894.
