A Leadership Update from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation

Greetings and Happy New Year,

I am pleased to report that 2025 has been a milestone year for the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, marked by expanded philanthropic reach, a record number of historical marker grants awarded nationwide, and growing organizational impact through partnerships and community engagement.

Building on this momentum, the Foundation is sharing a leadership update designed to support continuity while we thoughtfully consider our future organizational structure and begin the search for a new Executive Director. The Foundation’s experienced staff will continue to lead collaboratively across programs, partnerships, and operations.

Bill Brower will transition from his current role as Executive Director into a consultative position, working closely with me, the Trustees, and the Foundation’s collective leadership team over the coming months. In this role, he will support strategic priorities, steward key relationships, assist with national partnerships, and help advance initiatives already underway. He will also support the Board and staff as the Foundation plans for its next chapter and leadership transition.

Bill’s continued involvement reflects his deep commitment to the Foundation’s mission and ensures continuity for partners, grantees, collaborators, and employees during this period of reflection and growth. Consistent with his longstanding commitment to nonprofit leadership and public service, Bill has accepted a new role with the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) as Director of Community Impact and Director of Public Policy.

I am grateful for Bill’s leadership and for the exceptional staff whose shared responsibility, expertise, and collaboration continue to drive the Foundation’s work forward. Together, we remain focused on advancing philanthropy, strengthening partnerships, and supporting communities across the country through historical markers and place-based storytelling.

With appreciation and optimism for our continued work together,

Bill Pomeroy
