The Gladding company, established in 1816 by ropemaker John Gladding, grew to become B. F. Gladding, world renowed fishing line manufacturer. Featured in a 1949 Saturday Evening Post article, workers were known to make use of the company’s product to fish in the Otselic River during their lunch hours.
