The Rochester School for the Deaf began in 1876, initially named the Western New York Institution for Deaf Mutes. The school is dedicated to the education of children who are deaf and hard of hearing. It is an international leader serving a 21-county region of New York, providing for the diverse educational needs of students with hearing loss.
