During the American Revolution, the battles of Oriskany Falls and Klock’s Field were some of the bloodiest of the war. Ensign Derick Van Vetchen served from 1776-1783 and fought in both battles. After war he returned home and later passed away at the age of 94 on November 17, 1847.
