Elias Durfee (1796-1864) was a Quaker abolitionist who lived in Marion, NY and was affiliated with the Farmington Monthly Meeting of Ontario County, NY. He served as Marion Town Supervisor multiple times and was elected to the New York State Assembly in 1846. In December 1837, a Convention of the Friends of Free Discussion and Equal Rights in Wayne County met to form the Wayne County Anti-Slavery Society. At this meeting, Durfee was chosen to serve as one of the Vice Presidents of the newly formed Anti-Slavery Society. As of 2021, his stone house was still standing near the intersection of Walworth-Marion Road and State Route 21 in Marion.
