In the early 1890s the Town of Marion considered replacing their old school building. It was decided to build a new school and this was accomplished in 1894. In 1904, the Marion Collegiate Institute (aka Marion Academy) had recently gone defunct and as a result the community utilized their building as a school. No longer needing the smaller building they constructed in 1894, it was sold to the Marion Grange for use as a Grange Hall. Sometime prior to 1939, the Marion Academy was razed. In 1997 the Grange Hall (and former school) was gifted to the Town for use as a public library.
