Hermann Biggs (1859-1923), considered the “Father of Public Health,” is one of Trumansburg’s most notable citizens. He was an internationally recognized physician and global leader for his work in the public health sector. Biggs was renowned for his research in the diagnosis and combating of diseases like tuberculosis and diphtheria. Along with the likes of fellow medical pioneers Pasteur and Lister, Biggs’ name is carved on the frieze of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
