Situated along the shores of Lake Ontario is the village of Wilson, New York, home to Lake Island Park. Opening around 1899, Lake Island was a popular amusement park which offered a variety of different amenities such as a water slide, ball field, and dance pavilion. During the summer months, the quiet village of Wilson became a bustling and lively lakeside community, attracting both New York State and Canadian visitors. In 1923 Lake Island Park was redeveloped into the exclusive Tuscarora Park Club. Today, Lake Island Park and the Tuscarora Park Club are a distant memory, replaced by residential neighborhoods- Wilson Tuscarora State Park and Tuscarora Yacht Club.
