WILLIAM G. POMEROY FOUNDATION 2020

In 1868 the State built a dam at the outlet of Otisco Lake. This dam flooded an existing road/footpath across the lake which saved a long 8-mile trip around the southern tip of the lake. The road was rebuilt in 1900 but in 1929 it was closed again to traffic, leaving only the existing causeway. The causeway was rebuilt again ca. 1982.
