WILLIAM G. POMEROY FOUNDATION 2022

The building located at 7015 Albany Post Road in Rhinebeck, New York was built as a parsonage in 1798 for Reverend Frederick Henry Quitman, D.D. (1760-1832). After immigrating to New York State, Reverend Quitman served as an Evangelical Lutheran regional pastor, serving congregations at Rhinebeck, Germantown, and others in the Schoharie Valley and the Hudson River Valley. He would preach in the English language, in addition to German and Low Dutch. Reverend Quitman also served as the President of the Ministerium of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Synod of New York. He died on June 26, 1832, in Rhinebeck and was buried in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saint Peter Cemetery.

In 1993, the former parsonage built for Reverend Quitman became home to the Museum of Rhinebeck History.
