Upper Mongaup Cemetery, also known as Knight Cemetery, is the final resting place of the community’s earliest residents with burials dating to ca. 1852. Among those buried here are George Melvin Knight and Francis R. Knight, veterans of World War I and World War II, respectively. Previously a privately owned cemetery, the land was conveyed to the Town of Lumberland in 2020 by the estate of George M. Knight Jr. The last known burial was recorded in 1997 and as of 2023, Upper Mongaup Cemetery is no longer an active cemetery.
