WILLIAM G. POMEROY FOUNDATION 2020

In 1843 congregants formed this church in opposition to slavery being extended into the new territory of Texas. One hundred years later, the church was destroyed by a fire resulting from a lightning strike in late June or early July 1943. It was rebuilt that same year, using stained glass windows created by notable artisan Harry J. Harwood.
