In 1892, John J. Arnold (1847-1936) established a floral shop and greenhouse at 29 Cayuga Street in Homer, Cortland County, New York. According to his obituary published in the May 11, 1936 edition of the Cortland Standard, John had previously worked as a dry goods merchant in Homer in the firm Arnold, Woodruff and Pierce. John’s son Charles (1879-1953) later joined him in running his Cayuga Street floral shop and greenhouse, and after his death Charles continued his father’s florist business.

As of 2022, Arnold’s Florist was still in operation at 29 Cayuga Street in Homer.
