This was the home of James W. Sturtevant, co-founder of the Sturtevant-Larrabee Company, one of the largest and longest-lasting manufacturers of sleighs and carriages. Sturtevant lived at the house from 1884 until his death in 1913. In addition to his role in manufacturing, he also served as banker and as vice president of the charity, Susquehanna Valley Home.
